We were tired of Arizona always running out of feeders so we decided that we will meet the need of our fellow Arizonans.
We were already breeding high quality African Soft Furred rodent for our own ball pythons and we needed Rats for our bigger girls, so we bought frozen from one of the big names dot coms.
Once we defrosted our first batch we noticed a horrible odor and several missing tails and limbs. We couldn't belive this was the best there was to offer.
With a little research we learned that the big box rodent stores were all the same. Poor quality rodents who appeared to be fed a poor diet.
We heard of many "breeders" feeding dog food or what ever was cheapest at Cal-Ranch or Tractor supply. We started this way as well as we knew nothing.
With pointers from our highend breeders and with some knowledge from out vetrinarian we started to learn about good rodent nutrition and why it is important.
We now fee a complete balance of essential nutrients to meet the requirements of all classes of rodents.
On top of feeding our rodents a high protine rodent food they also get vegitables and fruits(seeds removed) as snacks. All of this is so important to a rodents health.
Proper rodent nutrition will help prevent against multiple diseases such as heart disease, liver disease, and tumour formation.
The red food dye in most dog foods have been found to be stored in the rodents livers. This is potentially very harmful to your snakes so make sure your rodent supplier is using a high quality rodent feed.
